AOS

Alexis Vigier Miranne works every day to change the way we build interior spaces! In her business development role at AOS Interior Environments, she acts as a go-to Manufactured Interior Construction educator and serves as a project liaison to the internal team of designers. Her primary goals are cultivating relationships across the Gulf Coast region; raising the company’s and the manufactured construction division’s profile with both end users and key influencers—designers, architects, general contractors, and developers.

With an English literature and history background, Alexis has built her career in professional services around strategic communication, managing and advocating for leaders, as well as enhancing company-wide business development efforts.

Alexis currently serves as the chapter president for Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) - Southeast Louisiana chapter and believes in empowering leaders in any volunteer capacity to advance the organization’s overall mission and the member-first chapter values.

As an ambassador and advocate for her native City of New Orleans, and an avid history aficionado, Alexis dedicates her time to the Friends of the Cabildo Board through the Louisiana State Museum and the AIA Louisiana College of Fellows committee; and is a contributing member of the Preservation Resource Center, Women in Architecture, and the National World War II Museum’s Young Benefactors.

On any given Saturday, you can find her taking advantage of her local library’s monthly book club selections, running in Audubon Park with my husband Alex or enjoying the incredible food in the City she calls home. And just as her last name indicates, she is a dedicated Francophile and enjoys discovering interesting parts of the world. Her most recent trip was to Normandy for the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Wonder Woman in Business, Deirdre Breakenridge & her FEEL First Communications

Deirdre Breakenridge

FEEL First Communications

In her own words…

I’ve been a career-long storyteller and Chief Relationship Agent (CRA), helping professionals to get unstuck in their communication and creating opportunities that result in business impact. As a communications consultant and CEO of Pure Performance Communications, my focus is marketing strategy and planning. I’ve launched marketing and PR programs (from Fortune 500 to startups) delivering creative, passionate and bold stories that help brands and their thought leaders to be seen and heard and to build genuine relationships with their stakeholder groups.

Today, my communications consulting and training programs take a proprietary approach with a new model called FEEL First, which was developed as a part of a year-long research journey. After the tragic loss of a family member, I wanted to learn more about how millennials showed up to their conversations, what they valued and what they expected from others in their interactions. What I uncovered was a disconnect in intergenerational communication. I’m working with professionals and their organizations to FEEL, which stand for face your Fears, engage with Empathy, use Ethics and good judgment and unleash the Love of your mission, across communication channels for authentic connections and to foster stronger bonds between groups.

The FEEL model took shape after conducting weekly one-one-one telephone interviews with millennials and business leaders, as well as diving into social media intelligence and text analytics. The model, with an accompanying online FEEL First Test (www.FEELFirstTest.com), helps leaders and managers to gauge if they FEEL First in order to connect authentically at different touchpoints. When you add FEEL to your communication planning and strategy you not only connect with people on a deeper level and but you also move from transactional to meaningful relationships that are based on trust, advocacy and greater loyalty.

As the author of several business books, it’s through my love of writing that I share stories about my communications journey. My most recent book, “Answers for Modern Communicators” was published by Routledge in October 2017 is a response to the most pressing PR and communications questions asked by students and professionals. A couple of other well-known industry titles include “Social Media and Public Relations: Eight New Practices for the PR Professional” and “Putting the Public Back in Public Relations.”

I’ve spent almost 15 years teaching on the university level, developing curriculum for PR and social media courses, both online and in the classroom at NYU, UMASS at Amherst, Rutgers University, and FDU. I speak nationally and internationally on PR, marketing, branding and social media communications, always through a FEEL First lens. I’ve also spent the last five years as a LinkedIn Learning Instructor with eight video courses on Public Relations Foundations, Media Training, Handling an Unruly Audience, Marketing Communications, Go-To-Market Planning, Competitive Analysis, Creating a Marketing Culture and Marketing Ethics.

Svetlana’s Personal Story in Her Own Words…

While many people spend years trying to figure out what to do with their lives, I was fortunate to see into the crystal ball of my future at a very young age.

I was born and raised in the Soviet Union during a time of great political and economic reformation in the 1980s called Perestroika. My father was an attorney who worked as an agent of change during this time. He helped Russian organizations transition from a command economy to a free-market economy. Through my father’s work, I quickly realized the importance of law related to business, and the need for people with the skills to help businesses adjust to new ways, new markets, and new cultures. I was inspired to get my law degree to help businesses as my father did. I started my law firm Primum Law Group in order to be able to support the international business to adjust to new markets and create the legal foundation that allows my clients to stay focused on their business goals and reach their potential.

After earning a Bachelors in Law I worked toward my Ph.D. and took a concurrent internship to gain experience providing full legal support to business. I worked on entity formation, corporate governance, licensing and employment issues, also advising them on mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactions. I was able to be more than a lawyer to a variety of businesses in this role, and I loved the ability to help them exceed their goals and grow.

I founded the Sovetnik Law Office in 2002, which I grew to a staff of seven full-time attorneys over ten years. While managing my firm I accepted an invitation from the United States government to join a special program to visit the U.S. and learn more about the legal aspects of business from an American perspective. I spent three weeks in California and my life hasn’t been the same since.

I returned to my firm excited to help U.S.-based companies get started in Russia and soon realized an opportunity to help Russian businesses do the same in the U.S. The recession in 2008 created a climate for international investment in America, so I partnered with USBC Business Consulting and Investments in California to assist Eastern European and Russian investors. I also earned a Masters in Business Law from the California Berkeley School of Law to be more effective as a full-service solution provider - not just a lawyer. I put my new education to work helping foreign investors with the development of facilities for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, then moved to the U.S. in 2013 to open a new chapter in my life.

While helping clients with international legal and business issues I quickly understood how much they needed a partner to help them with all aspects of commercial activity. I realized that what they really needed was someone who could do it all, so in 2016 I developed a new legal product with Primum Law Group to address this need.

Primum Law Group is the synthesis of my journey as a professional. With Primum I am putting twenty years of bilingual, multi-cultural legal and business experience to work helping businesses and start-ups succeed in foreign markets. I like to think of Primum as a partner for businesses that holds the legal frame for business owners that can develop the product. As our world becomes more globalized I see great opportunity for this solution and I am very excited to provide it.

When I asked to tell me something surprising about her that most don’t know, she said…

Sometimes it surprises people to know the image or idea I had in mind when I started my practice. I love ballroom dancing. The grace and precision of two dancers creates a partnership that is more than the sum of its parts. But what could ballroom dancing and practicing law possibly have in common? In ballroom dancing, the woman creates a foundation to allow her partner to guide the artistry. In 20 years of practicing law, I have found the same foundational partnership should exist between business owners and their legal counsels. Business lawyers accomplish this supporting role by understanding the business’s “dance” - both the business itself and its strategic goals. In this way, they can move with the company as it grows and evolves.

It’s all about action and reaction and anticipating the move before the move.

Michelle Wheeler

Junior Partner, PSM Marketing

Michelle R. Wheeler is a Junior Partner, Marketing Strategist, and Website Developer at PSM Marketing. She is a staunch believer that “everyone deserves kickass marketing,” which is why Michelle absolutely loves helping clients (large and small) achieve marketing success. She helps drive opportunity and growth for all her clients, regardless of their industry. In joining PSM’s leadership as a Junior Partner in 2019, Michelle is excited to bring her expertise helping Minnesota contractors, non-profits, and small businesses to PSM’s existing legal and financial services clients. Over the years, Michelle’s role at PSM has evolved immensely. As Terrie Wheeler’s youngest daughter, Michelle has been helping out at PSM ever since she was old enough to staple proposals and stuff envelopes.

In college, Michelle found a passion for web design and digital marketing, which ultimately came to shape the course of her career. Prior to joining the leadership team at PSM, Michelle launched her own marketing agency called Spectrum Design and Marketing. For five years, Michelle built her own client base, established a strong reputation, and learned valuable marketing strategies to help small businesses and organizations grow.

In 2017, the Minnesota Association of Government Communications awarded Michelle the Silver Award in Website Design. One of Michelle’s greatest goals is to help make marketing accessible. No business should ever fail because it didn’t have sufficient marketing. More than anything, marketing is a mindset. Michelle loves talking with clients and helping them discover what it will take for their business or organization to truly flourish.

Michelle has always been extremely active in her community and has a passion for politics and political activism. She is a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has worked with several community health and advocacy organizations over the years. She holds a B.A. in English and Women’s and Gender Studies from St. Olaf College. Michelle lives in St. Paul with her wife, Lauren, and their two rescue dogs, Margot and Nova. When she’s not working, Michelle enjoys making pottery, wood-working, gardening, brewing beer, fantasy/sci-fi novels, movies, video games, and home improvement projects.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Michelle as a Junior Partner at PSM! Michelle brings a wealth of digital knowledge to our business and a fresh approach to our leadership team. We are fortunate to have such a hard-working, creative and mature young professional as a part of our growing business!”
